China’s Long March 7A rocket has finally lodged the satellite into its orbit

The long-awaited departure of the latest China rocket family, Long March 7A, finally came to pass. The rocket ascended into space from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan province to deploy the technology display satellite into its predestined orbit.

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp announcement revealed that the over 60 meters tall rocket fired up into the atmosphere about two hours after midnight to send the New Technology Demonstrator 9 experimental satellite. The mission becomes the 362nd for the Long March rocket family and the second specifically for this rocket. The first mission scheduled for March last year failed after the rocket experiencing technical problems.

The China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology in Beijing narrated that Long March 7A had departed the spaceport with about 573 metric tons and has a wide diameter reaching 3.35 meters. The institute added that this rocket could deploy a 7-ton spacecraft to the geosynchronous transfer orbit.

This China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology is a branch of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp and is widely known in the country for developing rockets that have graced the space industry. The Long March 7A rocket will be deploying satellites heading to the far-high altitude orbits like the geosynchronous transfer and inclined geosynchronous orbits. Additionally, experts who developed it explained that it could be vital in the lunar and Mars missions. These exploits would require heavily powered rockets, which the Long March 7A can play to that tune.

Most of China’s Beidou navigation satellites and communication satellites are heading to the high-altitude orbits, and that is the ideal purpose for China to come up with the beastly rocket. The research and development of this rocket happened in exactly 22 months and was copying from the Long March 7 model. This model finds a variety of uses, like in deploying the payload spaceships to the country’s upcoming space station.

The project manager of Long March 7A, Meng Gang, stated that the services being offered by this rocket would motivate and support the development and launching of mega and massive satellites to different orbits. This move is crucial because satellites are finding new uses each day, with the latest being in agricultural and fishing activities, among other activities that require high-resolution imaging. The country can now effectively compete with the United States for space prowess. Finally, the rocket will help the space companies developing their satellite constellations to deploy their satellites through the rocket instead of booking rideshare services from foreign agencies.
